TravelBugs Stay is owned by Anthony and Thea and managed by an onsite hostess —we are travellers at heart who believe that the best stays feel effortless, relaxed, and welcoming. We created TravelBugs Stay as a home where guests can unwind, settle in, and truly experience the rhythm of St Lucia. Some of our favourite moments are the simple ones: morning coffee on the patio as Africa slowly comes to life in front of you, or an evening braai while hippos wander quietly in the street. These are the moments that made us fall in love with St Lucia, and the moments we love sharing with our guests. Hippos, Braai & Unforgettable Memories
My two best friends and I had the most wonderful time at Travelbugs Stay Guest House in St Lucia, South Africa. From the moment we arrived, we felt completely at home. The accommodation was cozy, comfortable, and thoughtfully set up with everything we could possibly need for a relaxing getaway. It’s clear that a lot of care has gone into making guests feel welcome and at ease.
One of my absolute highlights was the braai area overlooking the street. Sitting there in the evenings, enjoying a relaxed braai while soaking up the unique St Lucia atmosphere, was something really special. There’s such a laid-back holiday vibe in the area, and Travelbugs captures it perfectly. It felt safe, peaceful, and truly enjoyable.
Another big plus is the location. The guest house is within easy walking distance of restaurants, shops, and all the little places that make St Lucia so charming. We hardly needed to use our car, which made the stay even more relaxing. Everything was close enough to explore at a leisurely pace.
And then, of course, the hippos! Seeing hippos wandering through the streets was an absolute cherry on the cake and an experience we will never forget. It’s something so unique to St Lucia and made our stay feel extra special and memorable.
Overall, our stay at Travelbugs was everything we hoped for and more. It’s comfortable, well-located, and full of character. I would happily return anytime and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a true St Lucia holiday experience.

Comfort, convenience and a touch of wild!
I had a very comfortable and relaxing 8-day getaway at TravelBugs Stay. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting St Lucia.
The accommodation was exceptionally well maintained. Housekeepers did a great job keeping the place spotless, while also restocking all the necessary essentials. The bed was very comfortable, and the air conditioning made a huge difference during the hot days. The unit is well suited for both couples and families, with a comfortable lounge, TV, and a well-equipped kitchen. Secure parking and reliable high-speed Wi-Fi were also a big plus.
The location is excellent — central, convenient, and safe. John Dory’s is just about 200 meters away, Shoprite roughly 100 meters, the estuary around 2 km, and the beach is only about 2.5 km away. Everything you need is close by.
The host was incredibly friendly and helpful, with frequent check-ins and a genuinely welcoming attitude that made us feel right at home.
What really made this stay unforgettable was being able to see hippos walking down the street right from the patio — an absolutely incredible and unique experience that truly captures the magic of St Lucia.
Overall, TravelBugs Stay is the perfect place for couples and families looking for a comfortable, well-located, and memorable time in St Lucia.

The most amazing breakaway ever!
Staying at Travel Bug St Lucia felt like having a front-row seat to nature itself. The hippos walked right in front of us — an unforgettable experience!
We were surrounded by lovely little shops with the most beautiful artwork and everything is within walking distance, including fantastic restaurants. The wildlife roams freely in the streets — you honestly can’t get closer to nature than this.
The boat ride on the lake was breathtaking and showed nature at its very best.
TravelBug Stay is a relaxing, well-kept guesthouse where you immediately feel right at home. Peaceful, welcoming, and perfectly located. Highly recommended — we will definitely be back!
